Choosing the Best Furniture for Your Bathroom

If you’ve got a brand new bathroom to fit or are looking to do up your current abode, you’ll soon find that your not short of choices. Right up there in terms of decisions to be made is what kind of bathroom furniture you’ll be requiring for this plush new suite.

Once again, there isn’t a linear answer for this one either as there is a veritable plethora of varieties and sub-varieties of products available. You could choose fitted units, cabinets or a vanity stand, whatever your requirements, whatever your style, there’s no shortage of products available to match your every whim. The bathroom is not just a place to escape and enjoy luxurious long baths and get away from the hurly burly, the practicality side also has to be catered for.

One of the key determining factors that ought to help sway you during the decision process is size. Both the dimensions of your bathroom and the objects you will be looking to store have to be taken into account. When it comes to the more diminutive bathrooms you’ll have to be far more considered in your approach and think outside the box a little. You shouldn’t have to compromise the style of your bathroom, you just need to look at making better use of what is available to you.

For example, in a smaller bathroom you aren’t going to have the space for large fitted units. Space saving cabinets might be more appropriate, these can be installed in areas of the bathroom that would otherwise be unused. Optimising what is available to you and removing any dead space can be crucial, a bathroom cabinet that wraps around your basin or toilet is a great way to store essentials without having a vast unit blotting out the light. When it comes to larger bathrooms, your options become equally expansive. Suddenly you have the opportunity to incorporate a few added extras in and around your room – not least added storage with bathroom furniture. We all need to store things in our bathrooms, even if it is just a few toiletries and a toothbrush, it all has to live somewhere. In family bathrooms particularly, towels tend to be one of the heftier items that need to be stored – certainly in terms of size at any rate.

For these you’ll need a decent sized unit, possibly even a fitted unit, depending on your own stylistic preferences and of course the number of towels you will need. The space available to user ratio can often cause an issue, not least in family bathrooms. You may find that some of your lotions and potions are best kept out of reach of younger hands. Installing a sizeable vanity might well help you solve this minor storage issue. It is a hugely useful addition to the bathroom anyway and will ensure that certain items remain out of reach from inquisitive hands, particularly useful for any medicines or other potentially harmful products.

So whatever the size of your bathroom, there are always options available to you. Whilst you may not be able to store everything you would like in a particularly enclosed area, there’s no reason you can’t at least have a safe place for all of your essentials. When your storage needs appear to outweigh the space available, it’s time for a little creative thinking; perhaps you might want to start considering dead space surrounding your basin pedestal or toilet. So why should you consider bathroom furniture? Well here are a few of the main benefits:

  • Removes clutter
  • Won’t impede design or style
  • Optimise space
  • Save yourself space
  • Keep items out of harms way
