Choosing the Best Furniture for Your Bathroom

When it comes to refurbishing or installing a new bathroom, there are choices aplenty for how you can choose to fit it. One of the most pertinent issues that you’ll no doubt have to address is what kind of bathroom furniture you might want to install.

Once again, there isn’t a linear answer for this one either as there is a veritable plethora of varieties and sub-varieties of products available. You could choose fitted units, cabinets or a vanity stand, whatever your requirements, whatever your style, there’s no shortage of products available to match your every whim. The bathroom is not just a place to escape and enjoy luxurious long baths and get away from the hurly burly, the practicality side also has to be catered for.

One of the key determining factors that ought to help sway you during the decision process is size. Both the dimensions of your bathroom and the objects you will be looking to store have to be taken into account. For smaller bathrooms you will need to be more creative with the space you have available to you. Whilst it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to compromise, certainly not in terms of style at any rate, you just need to be clever.

For example, in a smaller bathroom you aren’t going to have the space for large fitted units. Space saving cabinets might be more appropriate, these can be installed in areas of the bathroom that would otherwise be unused. Optimising what is available to you and removing any dead space can be crucial, a bathroom cabinet that wraps around your basin or toilet is a great way to store essentials without having a vast unit blotting out the light.

As the size of your bathroom increases, so too do the storage options that you can experiment with. Opportunities for additional features are abound all of a sudden, with storage taken care of thanks to bathroom furniture. We all need to store things in our bathrooms, even if it is just a few toiletries and a toothbrush, it all has to live somewhere. Towels are one of the larger essentials that the bathroom may house.

For these you’ll need a decent sized unit, possibly even a fitted unit, depending on your own stylistic preferences and of course the number of towels you will need. The space available to user ratio can often cause an issue, not least in family bathrooms. You may find that some of your lotions and potions are best kept out of reach of younger hands. A larger vanity unit might be a perfect solution for this family conundrum. It is a hugely useful addition to the bathroom anyway and will ensure that certain items remain out of reach from inquisitive hands, particularly useful for any medicines or other potentially harmful products.

So whatever the size of your bathroom, there are always options available to you. Whilst you may not be able to store everything you would like in a particularly enclosed area, there’s no reason you can’t at least have a safe place for all of your essentials. If you are struggling to fit it all in be creative, vanity units can be incorporated where you are already using space, such as around the sink or toilet as previously mentioned. So why should you consider bathroom furniture? Well here are a few of the main benefits:

  • Adds to a bathroom’s aesthetic
  • Save yourself space
  • Keep items out of harms way
  • Removes clutter
  • Won’t impede design or style
